About the saint
Gabriel is the messenger who appears to Daniel with the interpretation of visions, to Zechariah in the Temple to announce the birth of John the Baptist, and to Mary at Nazareth with the Annunciation.
His words at Nazareth — "Hail, full of grace" and "nothing will be impossible with God" — are among the most repeated sentences in Christian prayer.
Because he carries messages he was named patron of postal workers, telecommunications and broadcasters by Pius XII in 1951.
